I'm afraid I have a cat who is a great hunter. We live on a farm and so she enjoys catching mice, rats, birds & pigeons and even rabbits. They can be very cruel but it's their survival instinct. I am like you though, I feel very sorry for the poor creatures who suffer.

Sadly birds and mice tend to die of shock after being catted... I came upstairs after lunch to find a jenny wren, incidently they are callled trodlydites in french, sitting on top of my computer!! It flew away and out the window when I came in.

That is so sad Nell, cats are lovely, but they love to chase and kill the mice and birds dont they.
We have another blackbird nesting in our hedge at the moment.

Well, Nell, you certainly did what you could to give that life a second chance! Let's hope that when we "find ourselves in times of trouble," each of us meets up with someone as caring as you are to supply as many chances as might be required.

That is sad Nell.

We used to have an old cat who died last year before we moved to the country. I miss her sometimes (she was over 21 when she died) But I wouldn't get a new cat now as we have so many lovely birds and wildlife I know she would have a field day living here and we would lose all the birds!!

So I shall just stick to our yellow labrador for now!

warm wishes

At least the mouse died in peace and some comfort instead of pain and terror!
We cant save them all I'm afraid

I hate it when I see an animal that's in pain or suffering. I'm glad you did something about it. I had to deal with a chicken - one of my favourites - only yesterday after she was got at by the Mink. I buried her near the Lilac tree with her sister! She was a good hen and she had lots of daughters who lay lovely blue eggs for me.
